Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Interior has decided to recognize the “Cambodian Reform Party”, which is made up of members of the disbanded former CNRP. The Cambodian Reform Party, whose headquarters are in Puk Chhmar village in Battambang Province, is headed up by senior members of the former CNRP, Ou Chanrath and Pol Horm.
In article 2 of the announcement, the Ministry of Interior requires that the party acts in accordance with the law on political parties, the various legal documents in force and the party's statute kept at the Ministry of Interior.
The Ministry has also issued another letter to a former member of the opposition party, Siam Phluk, who has formed another political party, the “Cambodia National Heart Party”. He asked for registration by the Ministry which has asked him to amend the content of the party's statute properly checking that the party meets conditions for the Ministry to formally recognize it.
After the government announced the return to politics of former opposition members who had previously been barred from political activity, a number of them have re-applied for political rights and have established new parties. The five parties already formed by former opposition party officers include: the “Khmer Will Party” by Kong Monica, the son of Kong Koam; the “Khmer Conservative Party” by Riel Khemrin; the “Cambodia National Love Party” by Chive Kata; the “Cambodian Reform Party” created by Pol Horm and Ou Chanrath, and the “National Heart Party” represented by Siem Phluk.
